Romeo and Juliet gets a sharp, contemporary twist in this bold reimagining set in present-day Central Illinois.听The Montagues and Capulets come from different corners of a divided landscape鈥攐ne rooted in rural values, the other shaped by polished suburban life. When their children fall in love across a widening cultural and political gulf, the consequences are swift and shattering. Drawing from the vitality of Shakespeare鈥檚听First Folio, this production uncovers surprising rhythms and rarely-seen moments to breathe new life into the familiar tragedy. It鈥檚听Romeo and Juliet听for our fractured times鈥攚ith poetry, passion, and the desperate hope that love can still rewrite the ending.
